wear it with: stripes + neutrals

17 May 2011
this week's "wear it with" edition is a bit of a hybrid - my starting piece was this striped madewell blouse, but i've incorporated neutrals into each look. i like this blouse because it's femine and flattering in cut and pattern. the spacing of the stripes, with the biggest stripe along the waistline, creates the illusion of a longer and leaner midsection and who doesn't want that? i suggest wearing it loose over fitted trousers or tucked in to a pencil skirt. pair with a cardigan or blazer for a layered look or throw on shorts and espadrilles for a weekend brunch outfit.

how do you wear stripes and neutrals?

My daughter has a talent for mixing patterns ... she'd wear those stripes with flowers and it would like like it was meant to be!

Love the look with the bright pink skirt. Madewell is one of my favorite shops for tops cut for petites!

Love it with that pink skirt. Makes a more conservative top so much fun!

i typically wear stripes with something more like look #1 - but i'd love to get up the courage to pair it with something as bright as the skirt in look #2!!
either way, i love both of these outfits you put together :)

I would definitely wear it with the pink skirt - that is too cute! I'd love to wear such a bright pink skirt into the office :) I'm sure I'd get a funny reaction from my 99% male coworkers!
