creating holiday traditions

28 November 2011
hi, dolls! hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! i am so excited to have miss jillian, a fellow chicago blogger and bride, here today sharing her ideas for creating holiday traditions as a couple. one of things i'm looking forward to is creating new family traditions with j, which definitely will include baking cookies and playing Christmas music pretty much every day in december!

hi there! it's jillian from cornflake dreams. like ashley, i got engaged this year and i have been busy planning our summer 2012 wedding. i have decided to take a mini-planning break to enjoy the holidays and spend some quality time with my fiance, family and friends.

my fiance, h and i have been dating for 2 and a half years and this will be our 3rd christmas together. we moved in with eachother last year and got our very own itty bitty tree. we decorated the tree together and hung up our stockings while we watched one of our favorite holiday films (i love the original grinch + love actually!) this year i plan to continue that tradition and i am excited about a few new ordinaments to add to the tree. when we go on trips we try to pick up a little souvenir that can be re-purposed as a Christmas ornament (so far we have a little mascots from chicago, arkansas, new orleans, and madrid). aside from decorating our place i love baking up some tasty treats! usually h takes the lead in 'quality control' and tastes everything i make :)

i am always looking for more ways to celebrate the holidays together.

do you have any special holiday traditions?

xo,

I've always said that one of the most beautiful and important things about Christmas is creating your own traditions and following them, make this holiday your own, it's challenging and exciting. This really is what Christmas should be about. Lovely guest post! :)

So sweet! John's family always watches Christmas Vacation, so we're going to see if we can make it a tradition with my family this year, too!
