using color in interior design

07 February 2012
i'm excited to have mari of design shuffle guest posting today on ANC! when the team asked what topic i was interested in, i couldn't help but think of color. i love neutrals, but using colors in interiors the right way can make such an impact!

Hi, Mari here. I'm a guest blogger for Design Shuffle, the online place where interior designers go to see and be seen. Design enthusiasts love checking out all the great design projects available on Design Shuffle. I love my job because I get to search for beautiful spaces and write about them for blogs like Ashley Nicole Catherine's. Today, we're talking about color in interiors. Decorating ideas that focus on color run the gamut from soft neutrals to brilliant jewel tones. We hope you'll find inspiration in eight of our favorite rooms with color.

Colorful Rooms

What more appropriate way to begin a post about color than with a Tricia Guild room? Hers is a name synonymous with color as seen year after year in her beautifully over-the-top Designers Guild fabrics, furnishings and wall coverings.

Colorful Rooms

From the exuberant to the serene, this stylish bedroom uses deep solid color in velvety upholstery to anchor a retreat-like space.

Colorful Rooms

This glamorous bedroom design includes many lovely shades of turquoise to showcase a stunning mirrored bed.

Colorful Rooms

Chartreuse is really finding a following right now and these tall draperies look stunning in this bold color choice. Pink and silver pillows are a surprising choice to accompany this strong green,
but work well on the white tufted sofa.

Colorful Rooms

Color is splashed across this room's gray canvas. So many colorful hues in one space might become confusing, but here they successfully meld in to a happy inviting living room.

Colorful Rooms

Even those with a fear of color in interior design might find this color-soaked vignette the brilliant way to add a big pop of color to a neutral space. Who knew Panton chairs could be found in
miniature and in orange?

Colorful Rooms

Mostly (well, maybe never) when we think of colorful rooms a brown palette doesn't immediately come to mind, but add Kazumi Yoshida artworks and this is what you get—a perfect merging of brown and bright hues. Need art living room ideas? This is a great way to showcase your favorite collections!

No look at rooms with color would be complete without at least one Diamond Baratta design. Here's a thoroughly original take on the beach house kitchen—perfection in blue and green glass.
