the greatest gift you'll ever know

01 October 2012
first off, i want to say thank you for the sweet comments over the past few days. it meant so much to me, but mostly my husband and his siblings, to see all of the love and support from you.

reflecting on the family gathering for the visitation, funeral service, and luncheon, i am struck by how much love there was in the room. love for the sweet grandmother who was at the center of this ever-growing family, but also love for the beloved grandfather who passed 22 years prior, for parents, children, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. the was a warmth that made you feel a part of something bigger than yourself. it made me hold james a little tighter, pray a little longer, think a little deeper.

looking around a room at a funeral, you can appreciate how many lives someone has touched. how much love they have put out into the world and how it all comes back as you say goodbye. and though it is a sad and heavy day, you can smile knowing that love endures.

ANC: This is so beautiful and so true. It only takes a moment like that to make us pause and truly appreciate who and what we have in our lives, to reflect on someone else's life, and the many people they have touched. It is trite but true: in moments such as those, there is no lacking of beauty.
