i am so excited to be introduce a two week "words of wisdom" series that starts today! while i am on vacation, i have a fantastic line-up of bloggers who will be sharing what words they try to live by and why.
to kick us off is the fabulous marissa of the boot!
People often write to me saying, “I’m so envious of your life in Italy. I would love to live there, but...”
There’s always a “but.”
The biggest thing I’ve learned during this journey of mine has been that we are the creators of our own destiny, not the external factors around us. If you desire something with all your heart, the only thing that could keep you from it is yourself. It’s as simple as saying, “No, I don’t have the money to move away,” or “I’m not pretty enough to go out with him,” or “I shouldn’t ask for a raise because I won’t get it.” And you won’t.
When I moved to Italy I had 200 euro, no job prospects and nowhere to live. Manu (my fiancè) and I slept on the floor of a friend’s apartment and sent out resumes during the day. Yet, it felt like I had it all and that I was living the dream! I believed that I would be OK, and eventually I was.
We condition ourselves to believe false truths. If, instead, you remember that what you are looking for can be easily found, you’ll realize that anything is possible. All you have to do is remind yourself that the universe is just waiting for you to take that first step.
Thanks so much, dear ANC readers! Hope you're all living your dreams too. :)
